Library of Sarajevo Functions Again, but Still Mourns Destruction of Historical Building
Almost ten years ago, in the night of 25 to 26 gunners occupying the hills surrounding Sarajevo destroyed August l992, the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In a recent report, Library Director Enes Kujundzic describes how the staff of the Library intensively worked to reconstructs collections and revive its functions in temporary premises, with assistance by UNESCO, the World Bank and the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"We hope that this Report will in a positive way contribute to better understanding of how far the Library in difficult circumstances, has achieved most of its goals in providing various services and different functions" Kujundzic says. He appreciatesthat "at least as far as its institutional aspect is concerned UNESCO's support for the Library was successful".

In his report for WebWorld, Kujundzic calls for international help for the reconstruction of the historical building of the Library, whichneeds considerable financial help.
