In cooperation with the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the Colombian Federation of Municipalities, the German Cooperation Agency and Transparency for Colombia, UNESCO launched a face-to-face and virtual course to promote the use of ICTs to improve governance. The course aims at promoting successful models and best practices of e-governance and e-democracy in municipalities and local governments.
The course is addressed to public servants, consultants, information professionals, civil society leaders, students and researchers, as well as any other professional who is committed to the promotion of the information society.
The specific objectives are to:
-strengthen local public management for a better integration of municipalities and citizens in the information society.
-promote leadership in organizational change processes through the extensive use of ICTs.
-design, develop and monitor e-government and e-democracy models at the local level.
-plan e-governance strategies and projects which respond to local needs and opportunities, contributing to the development of the municipality.
-manage the risks related to the implementation of e-governance strategies.
-planning and financial sustainability of e-governance strategies.
Dates of the face-to-face course in Bogotá:
23, 24, y 25 March 2006
21 and 22 April 2006
The virtual model is open to all Spanish-speaking professionals.
