Beirut workshop on media and development

A three day workshop on developing media professionals’ skills to better serve sustainable development was recently organized with UNESCO’s support in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
"We are involved therefore we have to raise our voices" said the media professionals proposing eighteen recommendations aiming at improving the way the public sees development. Recommendations included:
advancing issues of development on the priority scale of society through better promotion.
asking countries to provide all kinds of support to media and journalists to help in spreading the message more efficiently
adopting preventive journalism and help raise awareness rather than tackle problems
