ILI
International Literacy InstituteThe International Literacy Institute (ILI) was officially established in 1994 by UNESCO and the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. The mission of the ILI is to provide leadership in research, development, and training in the broad field of international literacy and development, with an emphasis on developing countries. The ILI organizes regional and international conferences, disseminates the ILI newsletter, Literacy Innovations, and is involved in a number of significant research, development, training, and networking activities around the world.

Events carried out within Initiative B@bel: UNESCO in cooperation with ILI, ACALAN, SDC, and ICT4D, organized a roundtable entitled, "Language literacy and New Technologies: the challenge of culturally adapted content for development", at the World Summit on the Information Society held in Geneva, December 2003.
The proceedings will be available shortly.
