Strategy and Programme of Communication and Information Sector

At its 34the session UNESCO's General Conference adopted the Medium-Term Strategy for 2008-2013 (34 C/4) and the Programme and Budget for 2008-2009 (34 C/5). UNESCO's activities in the area of communication and information until December 2009 will be implemented within the framework of these two strategic documents.
More particularly, they will be based on the Overarching objective 5: Building inclusive knowledge societies through information and communication of the Medium-Term Strategy and the Major Programme V: Communication and information of the Programme and Budget.

UNESCO undertakes specific interventions in small island developing States (SIDS) in line with the Mauritius Declaration and the Mauritius Strategy, developing a holistic and interdisciplinary approach and bearing in mind the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change “Climate Change 2007: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability” (13 April 2007).
