This site is addressed to community telecentre developers, practitioners, and researchers. It contains an annotated and classified inventory of resources on local information and informatics initiatives such as community multimedia and multipurpose telecentres. There are four major sections in this site; Projects and Initiatives, Research, Resource Organizations and Telecentre Technology, each covering an aspect of the process of engendering and appropriating ICTs for community development around the world.
This site aims to facilitate the development of community telecentres worldwide, through the presentation and sharing of information, experiences and resources related to practical telecentre implementation and management at community level, including links to both a range of representative external resources and relevant information from UNESCO's own programmes.
User suggestions of additional resources to be listed are welcome. Depending on user comments and needs, the site may be extended to include prospective and interactive services such as future events, discussions and enquiries.
