History
JourNet is a global network of journalism and media schools, established by UNESCO in Paris in 1999 under a
charter agreed by the founding members. It is governed by a General Assembly of all
members, which meets every two years and can, if needs be, make decisions electronically or by postal vote. Between meetings of the General Assembly, a
Steering Committee looks after matters of policy and the Network Coordinator deals with day to day management and the operation of the network.
Coordination
The African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), based at the University of Nairobi, provides Network Coordination.
UNESCO Liaison
UNESCO assists JourNet through the offices of UNESCO RCA for Eastern Africa and through the physical hosting of the website sub-domain name (www.journet.unesco.org).
