ICT Training Seminar for Youth Ends in Georgia

Today marks the closing of the sub-regional training seminar: "Information Technologies for Youth of the Caucasus Region" held 28-31 October 2003 at the Tbilisi Orbeliani State University. The seminar has been jointly organized within the Framework of Cooperation between UNESCO's INFOYOUTH Programme and the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO.
Young information specialists from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia representing governmental and non-governmental organizations have been participating in this training seminar. In addition it has also provided an opportunity for exchange between youth and other information experts from governmental, academic and media circles to address issues crucial to the development of knowledge societies in the Caucasian Region. A report of the meeting and key recommendations adopted will be an important outcome and contribution of this meeting to UNESCO 's work in this field.

Seminar participants have also had the opportunity to experience Georgian hospitality through visits to Georgian Architectural monuments and listening to Georgian Polyphonic Singing, which are important aspects of Georgian culture inscribed in the List of Tangible and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
