Vanuatu Radio with New Consoles

16-06-2003 ()
On the Pacific island of Vanuatu, the Board, Management and Staff of the national radio have recently witnessed the official launching of two brand new consoles funded by UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication, IPDC. The new equipment helps to ensure uninterrupted broadcasting of radio programmes to all parts of the country.
Government spokesperson Daniel Bangtor described the occasion as a milestone for Vanuatu Radio to have the two 25-year old consoles replaced, Vanuatu Trading Post reported. "Vanuatu must be proud of this development."

Radio Vanuatu, part of Vanuatu Television and Broadcasting Corporation (VBTC), is the only media in the country to reach out to all communities. This contributes essentially to the information and education of the whole nation.

During events of national emergencies, such as tropical cyclones or volcano eruption warnings, Radio Vanuatu plays an important role in the protection of lives and properties throughout the Vanuatu islands.
