WSIS Preparations Continue with Meetings in Cairo and Paris
While the Government of Egypt organizes the Pan- Arab Regional Conference on the World Summit on the Information Society next week in Cairo, a formal open-ended intergovernmental drafting group (“WSIS Intersessional Meeting”) is being convened by the President of the WSIS Preparatory Committee from 15 to 18 July 2003 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

WSIS Preparations Continue with Meetings in Cairo and Paris

While the Government of Egypt organizes the Pan- Arab Regional Conference on the World Summit on the Information Society next week in Cairo, a formal open-ended intergovernmental drafting group (“WSIS Intersessional Meeting”) is being convened by the President of the WSIS Preparatory Committee from 15 to 18 July 2003 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
The Pan-Arab Regional Conference on WSIS that is being organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the League of Arab States from 16 to 18 June 2003, in Cairo, is a regional preparatory conference aiming at reaching a unified Arab stance on the action plan to be presented at the Intersessional meeting and at Prep Com III as well as the Summit.

The meeting in Paris that is organized by the WSIS Executive Secretariat and hosted by UNESCO, will be dedicated to refining the working documents for the Draft Declaration of Principles and Draft Action Plan and to advance the negotiations on the Summit on the basis of the documents generated by the PrepCom-2 and the results of the work carried out during the intersessional period.
