Socio-linguistic context – description Birgid is the language of the Birked or Murgi ethnic group.
The Birked lived in the North and the East of the Dago and Bego, with a small colony in the Northeast of El Flasher. The Birked people now speak Arabic, and their ancestral language is nearly extinct. The only known Birgid speaker was over 80 years old in 1977.
