| General presentation of the language |
It is a Adamawa Eastern language, different from Dongo, a dialect of Kresh of Sudan, Dong (Donga) of Nigeria, and Ndo, a Nilo-Saharan language.
The Dongo-Ko dialects were named after the area where they are spoken:
Ndakala, that this is considered to be the purest dialect;
Deso, an area that was for some time under Logo domination and accordingly its dialect was influenced linguistically;
Sirika, an area that was for some time under Logo domination and accordingly its dialect was influenced linguistically;
Sirika/Djama diverges more violently than the other dialects, due to the fact that in the past they were subjugated by their southern neighbours the Mangutu. |
