All Currents Orient to Durban for the 5th WIOMSA Symposium

 

“WIOMSA needs to devise a strategy to reach out for the youth in the remote rural areas and to encourage them to take up marine science as a career” - Honourable Rejoice Mabudhafasi, Deputy Minister of S. Africa.
 
The Fifth Scientific Symposium of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) was held in Durban, South Africa from 22nd to 26th October, 2007. The Symposium theme was titled: ‘Advances in Marine Science in Eastern Africa – Science, Policy and Management: Pressures and responses in the Western Indian Ocean’.
